The Opportunity Charter School

A couple of blocks west of Morningside Heights sits The Opportunity Charter School, a public charter with a different approach to special education. Between 6th and 7th Avenues, students from across District 6 learn with assistive technology tailored for dyslexia, autism, and emotional support needs, while career-linked electives in media arts and office technology prepare juniors and seniors for tomorrow’s workforce. Community partners bring in robotics kits and design-thinking challenges during after-school hours, giving families concrete ways to stay involved. Head south on Frederick Douglass Boulevard, then turn left onto 113th Street—you’ll find the main entrance just past the library on the corner.
