Rasco Graphics Inc. operates quietly at 149 W 36th St., 5th Floor, Manhattan. Commercial presses and digital presses, bindery and finishing — six floors of printing have filled orders east of Herald Square for years. They pull color proofs in the same ways shops used when the block still hosted garment lofts and type foundries.

Brochures, catalogs, pocket folders, programs, posters, postcards: the regular list fills a delivery dock every afternoon. Color management stays tuned; ink levels stay exact; plates get imaged before dawn. Fifteen minutes south, the Flatiron bristles with new towers, yet the presses pound out runs the same way they did when the neighborhood still remembered carriage trade.
