Overhills
About
Overhills turns silence into sound in a building off Mott. They favors acoustic experiments and sparse arrangements over full-band stadium anthems. Electronic pads bleed into upright bass, and drum machines share space with reverb-drenched guitars. Field recordings flicker between tracks like half-remembered dreams.
The Mott Street storefront is part studio and part stage, tucked a block south of Canal. They records, scores, and edits in a single room where amp crackle meets microphone bleed. Collaborators drop by with drum kits and modular synths, then clear the floor in minutes. It’s the kind of place where a 1978 Fender sits next to a 24-track reel machine.
A postcard address: Mott St New York, NY 10013. Chalk-white walls offer zero distraction, letting the music sit in the air. Night visitors slip through the unmarked door, climb two flights, and step into a rectangle of echo. Bass notes linger so long they start to feel like architecture.
