About
The city’s oldest municipally fenced dog park sits at the nexus of North 12th Street & Driggs Avenue &, Union Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11211. McCarren Park Dog Run has been the go-to off-leash zone for dogs and their humans since it opened. No memberships, no special gear—just a fenced rectangle where tails spin faster than traffic on Delancey.
Give the yellow ball a kick toward the south fence and the collies beat you there; toss a handful of treats near the big oak stump and the pup parade starts. If your terrier barks at skateboard wheels, the west side stays quieter after 3 p.m., while morning pups chase shadows under the floodlights. Bring water—there’s no fountain—and a poop bag or two, because running crews don’t clean up after themselves.
Dial 718-963-3601 for a quick heads-up before you head out, or punch the map link into your phone if your thumb still remembers street names. Once you’re there, the only thing frantic will be the retrievers.
