La Cuevita is one of East Harlem’s most vital patches of green, a gathering place where concrete hydrangeas and flowerbed square dances grow side by side. Community gardens transform modest side streets into micro-parks, and this one keeps soil fertile and neighbors talking. From sunrise sowing to late-summer harvest potlucks, the beds buzz with the rhythm of weekday volunteers and weekend visitors alike.
You’ll find it tucked on the south side of 115th Street between Fifth and Madison, right at 71 E 115th St, New York, NY 10029. Metro-North riders step off at 110th and walk east; bus riders hop off the M116 and head south one long block. A flower stand often spills onto the sidewalk in July, adding color long before the first frost.
