Fin's Marine
About
Across two counties of brackish water and coves, boats move in and out of yards like itinerant gulls. Down the back roads of Lodi sit a handful of local dealers, one of which hands over keys, motors and rigging with minimal fuss. Fin’s Marine is one of them, sitting on Route 46 where the traffic bleeds into marshland home to striped bass and osprey nests.
On the north side of 8 US-46—where the striped pines thin to aluminum docks—buyers choose from anglers’ runabouts to pocket cruisers that fit a single weekend or a decade of use. Out the side door a launch ramp slopes into the Hackensack, ready for whatever slides off a trailer that afternoon. Outboard rigs, center consoles and pontoon packages arrive on semi-trailers most weeks, paired with trailer winches, anchor rollers and spare propellers stashed behind the counter.
Down the counter lives the small-print paperwork and title filings, followed by an old tube TV re-runs of rod-bending tournaments while customers sign. Call before you trailer up; they start the inboard morning prep at eight sharp and by noon most hulls have squeaked down the launch, wake curling behind. If you’re timing a pickup or a drop-off, the phone rings to a dispatcher who keeps a clipboard of serial numbers and sea-trial slots.
When you finally follow the exit to Route 46, look for the side lot flanked by Whaler molds and yellow rib guides—they’re the squat green building with bait tanks buzzing under the fluorescent bars. Tap directions before you idle into the weeds of Lodi; the map saves you from the split-rail detours that loop around the old power-line easement.
