About
Linens stores in Manhattan often feel like an afterthought. Dona Dio Design on the east side doesn’t.
Around 410 E 57th St, the neighborhood still carries the quiet rhythm of pre-war buildings and tree-lined blocks. Shops here tend to favor function over flash, and this one keeps to that script. The inventory leans toward used goods—tablecloths, napkins, bedding—that have been cleaned, mended, and priced for second lives. It’s the kind of place where a single bolt of linen can outlast a lease.
What you’ll find isn’t new, but it’s not worn out either. Damask napkins, embroidered pillowcases, and bolt ends of Belgian flax move through the racks at a pace that suggests someone actually uses them. The storefront itself is narrow, easy to miss if you’re speed-walking toward the FDR, yet it’s been part of the street for years without fanfare.
